The minutes from the June
meeting were approved as read.
A motion to accept the minutes was made by Russ P. Jones and
seconded by Ron Albert.
All were in favor.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:
End Balance as of July - $1,324.64
Received $36.00 from National for Life Members
Help members fund $237.50
Received $75.00 from Court House for Flags Details
End Balance as of August - $1,511.46
Received Interest of $1.82
End Balance as of September - $1,592.08
Received Interest of $1.90
End Balance to date: $1,765.08
95 Members paid dues
A motion to accept the Financial report was made by Bill Lindberg and
seconded by Bob Shaffer.
All were in favor and the report was referred to the audit
committee.
OLD BUSINESS:
Department Encampment - Bill Lindberg gave his comments on
the proceedings:
The 1999 Department Encampment will be held in Lancaster, PA on June 24 -
27, 1999.
Rooms will cost approximately $40.00 a night.
The 2000 Encampment will be held in Gettysburg at the Eisenhower
on June 22 - 25, 2000.
Rooms will be approximately $87.00 a night.
The Patriotic Instructors’ job description has changed.
The Fund Raising part has been removed.
Bill’s donation for this year, as Department Patriotic Instructor
went to the Habitat for Humanity.
He also reported that the Campfire Donation has increased from
$200.00 to $500.00.
There was a discussion on the sale of another cannon.
This one was sold back to the original manufacturer as a show
piece in its location of Richmond, VA.
Ivan Frantz has resigned as Commander of Memorial Camp 300.
Per Capita Tax increased $.25 per quarter.
The McClure (Bean Soup) Camp may be dropped.
The Department donated $1000.00 to the restoration of the
Constellation.

National Encampment - Russ P. Jones gave his comments on the
proceedings:
Members attending from the Camp and Auxiliary were: Joe and Mary Jo Long,
Bill and Ruth Lindberg, Russ P. and Lori Jones and Earl Foulk attended on
Saturday.
There were 2 trial going on with one being the removal of the Commander
from Massachusetts.
There were over 160 Sons present.
National now has over 5700 members with over 1000 in the past
year.
There are 26 Departments nationally, most since 1922.
Our next dinner will be held at Marvelous Muggs on Saturday, October 24 with
the Department Commander and Auxiliary President in attendance.

Checks will be made payable to Joe Long.
Joe Long made a motion to give a $15.00 gift to the Department
Commander.
Mark Myers seconded and all were in favor.
The guest speaker for the dinner will be David Klinepeter who portrays
the Governor of Pennsylvania.
The cost for him will be $50.00.
Joe Long made an overall motion that the Camp pay for the meals of all
invited guests and Bill Lindberg seconded.
All were in favor.
Honor the Flag Ceremonies - Joe Long, Bill Lindberg, Russ W. Jones
and Russ P. Jones and a few Ladies were at Nay Aug Park.
Carl Miller represented the Camp in Clarks Summit and Ron Albert
represented the Camp in Montrose.
NEW
BUSINESS:
The Camp received a letter from an Associate Member, Adam Lehotsky, from
Greensburg, PA.
He wrote that he is glad to be a member and wished to thank all the members
for a book he received.
He also told about his travels in the area.
Four new applications were presented for approval: James L. Thompson, Jerry
W. Brown, William C. Brown and James W. Brown.
The Membership Committee was made up of Mark Myers, Russ P. Jones and
Bill Lindberg for all four applicants.
All four applications were accepted.
Upcoming events for discussion will be as follows: October - Essay contest.
Joe Long and Ron Albert, Montrose School District.
November - Nominations of Officers for upcoming year.
The Help Members drawing was won by Ron Albert.
With no further business, questions or discussion, a motion to adjourn was made by Joe Long and seconded by Bill Lindberg.. All were in favor.
