OLD BUSINESS:

Committees for Encampment:

Ad Book – Ads are needed for the Program Book per Joe Long.  John Hart said he sent a letter to the Chamber of Commerce to ask their members for an ad.  John Hart will donate the 2200 letters.  He thinks the best way to get ads is to press the flesh.  Page costs are: full page $50, ½ page $30, ¼ page $25, 1/8 page $15 and patron name on page $3.  Joe Long explained the membership price per ads in book.  The Camp will be looking for retired member to do the solicitation.  The ad book is what pays for the Encampment in June.

Encampment – Discussed what it costs to run the Encampment, Joe Long gave an estimate of around $2800.

Entertainment – John Hart explained the Fife and Drum Corps will be at the Campfire.  A guitarist will have a sing-a-long.  He asked Marywood University for a string group for the dinner on Saturday night.  It is noted that the entertainment is to be 20 minutes long.  Favors will be the responsibility of the Auxiliary.

Delegate Bags – John Hart will handle getting trinkets for the welcome bag.

SVR – John Hart reported that he is planning a SVR breakfast on Saturday morning at 7:00 am.  From 5:00 pm Thursday, a guard will be posted, plus a cannon in front of the hotel.  Joe Long will coordinate with John Hart on the Opening Ceremonies.

Money – All checks for ads should be made to “Pennsylvania Department Encampment Committee”.  Joe Long has a checking account and all bills will be paid from this account.  When all is done, we must return the $1,000 seed money, which will then be turned over to the next Camp who will be holding the Encampment.  All the money that is left will go to Camp #8.

NEW BUSINESS:

Joe Long seeks the approval of new member, Roy Jones III.

John Hart discussed April 2, the parade, re-dedication and $500 presentation from National to the Lackawanna County Historical Society who raised the funds for the restoration of the Sheridan Monument.

Ron Albert discussed when the Montrose re-dedication would be held.

With no further business, questions or comments, the Camp was closed in ritualistic fashion at 8:30 p.m.
