MONTHLY MEETING

 EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

May 17, 2007

 

  

     The meeting was called to order by Commander Robert Baker in ritualistic manner followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a Roll Call of Officers.

     Minutes for the April meeting were read and approved.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT

     Joe Long read the financial report with the following information:                    

         Members Help Fund at $166.50.

         Tony Donato won the April 50/50.

         End balance of $2,527.06 in the checking account.

     A motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report was made, seconded and passed unanimously.

 

OLD BUSINESS

Memorial Day

     The Memorial Day ceremonies at Dunmore Cemetery were discussed.

     Captain Hart’s illness changed a number of plans.

Armed Forces Day

     Delaney-Delacy Guard will meet in front of the museum between 9 and 9:30 a.m. to participate in the parade.

Harford Fair

     The 150th anniversary of the Harford Fair will take place on Monday, August 20. Plans are being made for our members to march in the parade. More details to follow.

Women’s Relief Corps

     The Women’s Relief Corps will hold their Convention on August 6th at the Clarion Hotel in Scranton.

Flag Day

     Flag Day Ceremonies will take place at Gino Merli Park, time to be decided. Members are encouraged to attend.

Lackawanna County Council of Veterans

     Joe Long reported the next meeting will take place on June 5 at 10 a.m. if anyone would like to attend.

School Visit to Museum

     Joe Long reported that 29 students from Patty Lawler’s second grade class visited the museum last month and enjoyed the experience.

Department of PA Encampment

     The Encampment is set to take place in Bethlehem, PA. Joe Long expressed some concern that John Hart was supposed to do the Encampment books by the 22nd. At this time it is unknown if he will be able to complete the project.

Camp Bible

     Our Camp Bible was repaired and is now back in service

 

NEW BUSINESS

We’re Number One!

     Joe Long reported we are now the largest camp in Pennsylvania with 143 members. Philadelphia is 20 members behind us.

Scranton Mayor’s July 4th Ceremony

     Our camp will carry flags in the annual July 4th ceremony. Volunteers are needed to represent us and carry the flags. Mike Grayson will play his drum.

     With no further business a motion to adjourn was made and the meeting was closed in ritualistic manner.
