MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

January 18, 2025

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Tim Chase.

Other members in attendance were:

Officer Excused: Rich Ryczak, Hal Myers, Bill Fischer, Jim Jones and Howard Wolfe

All members received a digital copy of the minutes twice prior to the meeting.  A motion to accept the December minutes was made by Giovan Lisi and seconded by Dale Keklock.  All were in favor.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Jerry Skotleski stated the Camp balance.  A motion to accept the report was made by Bill Dixon and seconded by Giovan Lisi.  All were in favor.

SICK MEMBERS:  

Members in attendance were happy to see Dale Keklock attending the meeting, welcoming him back.

Mark Myers gave a quick update on his wife and all members offered to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.

APPLICATIONS:

• Bob Baker – PCC returning from a hiatus from membership – voice vote with all in favor
• Pat Abdalla – third great uncle – 141^st New York Infantry – motion was made by Bill Dixon and seconded by Bob Shaffer – All were in favor

CORRESPONDENCE:

All communication from the Department and National has been forwarded via email to members.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Commander Chase made a motion for Treasurer Skotleski to purchase a speaker from Sam’s Club for use at future camp events.  The cost would be $300.00.  The motion was seconded by Bill Burns.  All were in favor.

NEW BUSINESS:

A discussion was held on the GAR decision to move the meeting room to the back room.  Secretary Dixon was asked to send an email on behalf of the Camp to all brothers looking for a vote to move the meeting room back to the front room or stay in the small room.

• Addendum: Prior to the final vote being tallied on the room, GAR President Bill Burns worked with Secretary Dixon to move the room back out front with some more space for displays.  Brothers attending a meeting will bring out folding chairs from the back room.  The meeting room table is pushed together in a presentable manner and Secretary Dixon will work on an interpretive element to inform visitors of the Museum how a GAR meeting room would be set up.

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

• Dale Keklock thanked all brothers in attendance for their support when he was sick
• Chaplain Rogan discussed possibly marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade.  It would be of no cost to the Camp and asked Secretary Dixon to send an email to all members to see if there is any interest
• A discussion was had about the status of various cannons in our area
• A discussion was had about assisting the GAR Memorial Association with planning a presentation.

The next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, February 15^th at 10am.

With no further business, the camp was closed in ritualistic manner by Commander Chase.
