MONTHLY MEETING

EZRA S. GRIFFIN CAMP #8

February 15, 2025

 

The meeting was called to order in ritualistic fashion by Commander Tim Chase.

Officer Excused: Jeremy Skotleski and Giovan Lisi

 

All members received a digital copy of the minutes twice prior to the meeting.  A motion to accept the January minutes was made by Bill Burns and seconded by Paul Rogan.  All were in favor.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

Jerry Skotleski stated the Camp balance.  A motion to accept the report was made by Bill Dixon and seconded by Giovan Lisi.  All were in favor.

 

SICK MEMBERS:  

Brothers in attendance were asked to keep Tim Pierce in their thoughts and prayers as he deals with the passing of his wife, Lori.

Bill Fischer brought up Steve Long of Camp #112 in Gettysburg as he is in the hospital.

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

All communication from the Department and National has been forwarded via email to members.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Early planning for the Lincoln Ceremony was discussed:

     The following is the preliminary presentation -

          Posting of the Colors

          Greetings - Commander Chase

          Invocation - Chaplain Rogan

          Battle Hymn of the Republic

          Speaker

          Wreath Laying

          Taps

          Benediction - Chaplain Rogan

A motion was made by Bill Fischer to move the April meeting to the 12th.  It was seconded by Jeremy Allen.  All were in favor.

A motion was made by Bill Dixon to send $50 donation to Lori Pierce's name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart.  It was secnded by Paul Roagn.  All were in favor.

A discussion was had on Memorial Day planning.

At 2pm on February 23rd, the GAR is hosting a free showing of "Glory" at the Dietrich Theatre in Tunkhannock.  All brothers are encouraged to attend.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER:

A discussion was held about the Camp donating to the fundraiser to return Lt. Griffin's sword.  Bill Dixon advised the Camp that he and Treasurer Skotleski will have a better idea of the Camp's financial status come April.

Bill Fischer provided an update on the PA Department.

Bill Dixon advised the brothers that at the March meeting non-dues paying members will be given a general discharge from the Order.

 

The next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 10am.

 

With no further business, the camp was closed in ritualistic manner by Commander Chase.
